A Broadcast Film Critics Association, maior associação de críticos dos Estados Unidos e Canadá, divulgou sua lista de indicados para o prêmio Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.
E o filme de Quentin Tarantino, Bastardos Inglórios, e Nine, ambos da Weinstein Co., conseguiram 10 indicações, entre elas a de Melhor Filme. Avatar, de James Cameron, também indicado na categoria, vem logo em seguida com nove indicações.
A curiosidade fica por conta da animação Up - Altas Aventuras que concorre como Melhor Filme e Melhor Animação.
Até o momento, esta foi a melhor performance do musical de Rob Marshall, que teve Marion Cottilard indicada como Atriz Coadjuvante, apesar dos esforços dos irmãos Weinstein em tê-la como Atriz Principal na corrida pelo Oscar, que tem total autonomia nas definições de seus indicados.
A premiação sofreu mudanças neste ano, incluindo mais oito categorias para se parecer com o Oscar. Além disto, a cerimônia, que será apresentada pela atriz Kristin Chenoweth, mudou-se do Santa Monica Civic Auditorium para o Hollywood Palladium. O evento acontece no dia 15 de janeiro, as 21 horas, e será televisionado pela VH1, com cenas do tapete vermelho através da MTV.
A BFCA é composta por 235 profissionais da TV, rádio e internet e, no ano passado, os prêmios de Melhor Filme (Quem Quer Ser Um Milionário?), Melhor Diretor (Danny Boyle) e roteirista (Simon Beaufoy), coincidiram com os ganhadores do Oscar.
